New vintage Beatles shirt designs heading into stores

Some new Beatles shirts will be showing up in U.S. stores next week to accompany the release of the much-awaited Beatles vinyl box on Tuesday, a spokesman for Live Nation, the Beatles North American merchandiser, told Beatles Examiner Thursday.

The new TRUNK! vintage high end shirts will retail for around $60 and be sold exclusively at Bloomingdale's. They feature designs with pictures taken mainly from various Beatles singles and albums. That went down like a Yellow Submarine! Ringo Starr jumps in front of Jim Carrey after he shows mock Beatles T-shirt with faces of Dumb And Dumber characters

It seems Jim Carrey has yet to read How To Win Friends And Influence People.
For the funnyman caused Ringo Starr to burst into mock outrage after he showed him a Beatles T-shirt featuring the face of the Dumb And Dumber characters at an event in New York on Monday.
The game for a laugh drummer then jumped in front of the Hollywood star to cover up the offending garment, which had replaced the faces of his bandmates George Harrison and Paul McCartney with the franchise's Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne.

It's curtains for Katy's stylist! Perry makes a fashion faux pas in unflattering dress and matching cloak at Beatles event in LA

When it comes to her personal fashion style, it seems that Katy Perry is as quirky as her music.
The Roar singer chose an interesting ensemble as she performed at The Night That Changed America event on Monday, which appeared to be made from an pair of old curtains.
The night was a 'Grammy Salute To The Beatles' and Katy was certainly feeling nostalgic when it came to the wardrobe department.

Vans Collaborates With The Beatles 'Yellow Submarine' on First-Ever Footwear Capsule

Pharrell's hat may have gotten most of the fashion attention at last night's Grammy Awards, but there was another major style coup waiting in the wings: a new collaboration between The Beatles and Vans. A nice addendum to Paul and Ringo's Grammy performance, don't you think?
Created to mark the 50th anniversary of Beatlemania sweeping the nation, the shoes boast Yellow Submarine graphics from both the album and the animated film (drawn by modern artist Heinz Edelmann). The sneakers launch on March vans.com, and retail for $65–$75 per pair.

This is the first time a footwear brand has ever been granted permission to use The Beatles' album art on a shoe, because all you need is love, but a cute pair of high tops can't hurt, either.

60s Fashion Style – 1964 Mod Dresses, Go Go Boots, Quant, Beatles

what is mod fashion?

Mix Go Go boots, mod mini dresses, Mary Quant, Space Age fashion, Beatlemania and Carnaby Street, and you get the fab British Invasion that took over 1960s clothing, music, and culture in the US.
The 1960s Youthquake
1964 should be declared the official beginning of the 1960s Youthquake. This was the year of the Beatles' invasion, Courrèges' go go boots, Mary Quant's mini skirts, and just about anything else that manufacturers could hype to the hordes of Baby Boomers, who had just stomped their feet and thrown a countrywide hissy fit... in an effort to demand hip, youthful, British-inspired fashion. Fortunately, designers saw dollar signs and gave them what they wanted.

Recession Fashion

Tough Economic Times Influence Style

Recession Fashion

n these tough economic times, it seems somewhat fitting that fashion and clothing return to a more buttoned-down and regimented style.

Military-chic not withstanding, and the influence of revolutions past, the proliferation of military style jackets and designs (not seen since the Beatles or Michael Jackson’s heyday) took front and center at Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Balmain and Chris Benz at Paris Fashion Week.  Even vintage military looks sprung up at the Balenciaga shows.

If political unrest and financial instability are the reason for looks a la Sgt Pepper, chaotic and unpredictable economic times seem to drive other trends, such as over-the-top accessories, like gargantuan and oversize jewelry, in particular necklaces that somewhat resemble the love child of a giant squid and the collar of a Clydesdale.

In addition to these over the top embellishments, feathers adorn jewelry and just about everything else. Doug Abraham, jewelry designer and owner of Bess in NYC is experiencing a major moment. “I’ve been working with feathers for I don’t know how long,” he said. “White, black, brown, peacock ... I’ve always liked big, messy, feathers."

Abraham’s current collection features a gothic grouping of suede, lace and ravenlike feathers, which he has difficulty keeping in his store.

Young celebutantes have adopted these bold accessories while keeping many of their other fashion statements minimal. They''ll wear things like a pair of jeans with a wife beater, a sure fire way to keep economic strife at bay, while still being on trend.

While these influences rule the runways, on the street there’s also been a return to blue collar chic, with perhaps a surprising trend, featuring the traditional denim button down, previously the domain of the (hard)working class, witnessing its evolution into the popular uniform of the hip, young and trendy.

Another dramatic statement was the appearance of really dark, or bleached-to-invisibility eyebrows. While being relatively difficult to achieve successfully in real life, it’s just another example of fashion’s reaction to extremes of society.

As the economic climate continues to emulate global warming, it will be interesting to see what’s next.

Bulletproof Pop Culture Portraits

David Palmer Artistically Brings Icons Back to Life

David Palmer

Although one time in history bullets took the life of famous icons like John Lennon and John F. Kennedy Junior, this time the ammunition brought them back to life thanks artist David Palmer. These magnificent portraits were made with darkened bullet shells that recreate the faces of popular pop culture figures.

Using a hand torch as his paintbrush, Palmer drew shadows until he gave life to these men. In addition to being mesmerizing, these pieces also artistically represent the courage and tenacity of these icons and the high price they had to pay to follow their principles. Palmer explains, "The individuals I have chosen are a testimony to the fact that man's loftiest endeavors are often brought about at a cost that is high."

Despite its controversial art material, David Palmer wishes to send a positive message to audiences that shows that creation overpowers destruction.
